Windsor
So I'm back from the Ontario Regional Canadian University Press (ORCUP) conference at Windsor, hosted by the Lance (who don't have a website ? *gasp*), from University of Windsor.
I was representing the Window, along with a couple of other editors, althought our original contingent was supposed to be three times the size. Unfortunately people cancelled in the last minute, and I wasn't sure if I was going either, but then I sort of had to cuz I was the only driver.
Anyway, as far as the organization was concerned, the conference was perfect. The Lance people were uber-nice, probably the nicest people i've met, despite us giving them headaches with our last minute-cancellations. So, big-up to them.
Windsor was also much nicer than I had imagined. It was a pretty decent city. I have a couple of office-mates from Windsor and they always complained about Windsor so much that I expected a sketchy town. Not so.
Casino Windsor, one of the highlights. Thankfully I didn't lose much (goddamn $15 minimum bets almost screwed me, but then the Big Six Wheel came to the rescue [I hit the joker!! 1x40] yay).
What else? The talks were all good, specially for those who actually plan on becoming a journalist, which doesn't include me. The closest journalistic thing that might be in store for me is getting my comic syndicated by a paper. But unfortunately there weren't any talks related to that. Nonetheless, I enjoyed them.
I took a bunch of pics, a lot of them are crap, and the rest need thorough processing and it's too late for that tonight. I'll put them up sometime this week though.
irrelevant note: driving in crazy wind is NOT fun. Neither is driving in heavy snow, or showers, but the last two definitely beat the winds. Toronto was nice enough to greet us with all the three when we were coming back today, all the way from London.
slightly less irrelevant note: I was surprised and highly disappointed not to see the Varsity crew there, it wouldav been fun.
.
you can keep all three...hheeehheee
btw driving in wind in a lil baby nissan micra....on the motorway....with significant sidewinds...thats one experience i dont ever want to repeat!...laters dude!
