nahh your lens is fine that's just normal distortion that you get. A tripod is an excellent investment especially for long shutter time and sooner or later you will want to take night shots which require long shutter times.

If you have the shakes that bad, you might want to get yourt dr to precribe some beta blockers...they work a wonder, many surgeons take it before operating as do people before exams and driving tests. Medicinal route...only if youre worried, and only a short term solution!
