Them shiny discs
So I got two new games today; Ninja Gaiden and Jade Empire. The first one was one of the main reasons I got the Xbox. I had played it at a friend's home and I liked it so much I decided to get the console, but I hadn't bought it until now.
I don't kno,w now I'm sort of disappointed. The graphics are probably better than any third person action game I've ever seen. The rendering is absolutely amazing, it's almost unbelievable. But the combat, well with the basic weapon that I have now the combos are rather limited (unlike say, Prince of Persia, which you had a great range of attacks with any weapon). Also, it's really hard. I mean I'm at the first level and I'm getting my ass beaten already. I guess that's better than being super easy, but still, I'm not the greatest fan of playing the same level a hundred times.
Jade empire, well, think Fable, in an oriental setting. I could have sworn they have used the same engine, the graphics and motion dynamics are very similar. It has more of an RPG gameplay tho, a lot of boring talking and stuff. What really pisses me off is that the game slows down immensly in combat mode, and it's really painful. I don't know if the machine just can't handle it, or if that's how they've made it.
All in all, playing these two has only solidified my beleif that Prince of Persia 2 is the best all-around third person action game on xbox. (God of War looks mouth watering, too bad it's only on PS2).
btw that's just my initial assessment, and might change with more playing.
I also got my Tintin DVD box today. Umm, someone needs to tell them about 'remastering'. They look like they've been recorded from TV on a VHS. Disappointing again.
.
My friend lent me his game cube and now Zelda is ruining my life. Thankfully, I barely have a life to ruin.
When I get back to my xbox, I'm going to look into Forza motorsports. Apparently it's so realistic that you can use it to test out different modifications before you buy them for your real car. Also, Call of Cthulhu is coming out sometime (release date keeps getting pushed back, think it's due in september now). That's supposed to be the best horror survival game ever made.
