Roger and Roeper
The best thing about Sunday nights is Roger and Reoper. Eventhough I despise the binary 'thumbs up/down' rating, I do enjoy their critique and their discussions seem comfortable and genuine, specially when they disagree.
It would be the perfect show to watch before going to bed, if I ever went to bed right after it.
Speaking of movies, I saw an interesting one over the weekend. Bus 174, a brazilian documentary about a bus hijacking/hostage taking incident which occured in Rio in 2000. You basically watch real footage from the crisis, with interviews with people who know the hijacker in between. The ending is simply shocking. Thumbs up!! It's rated 100% fresh (out of 69 reviews) in rottentomatos, but I don't recommend reading any reviews or even visiting the reviews page as some of the headlines stupidly give too much away. If you don't mind that, here's the reviews page anyway.
.
Roger Ebert is a pretty good movie critic, in that I can usually tell by his review whether or not I'll enjoy a film, regardless of how many stars he actually gives it. And he constantly has people writing him to say, "How can you possibly rate a movie on a scale of only four stars?" to which he typically responds, "You think that's tough? Try working with thumbs."
